Starting 3D printing

asked Jun 28, 2014 in 3D Modelling Software by Robert (230 points)
I am about to start 3D printing. I need help about how the modeling of 3D printing is done. What type of software should I use? Can I use CAD? or will other programs make my file ready for 3D print? I have some unique ideas but I am not sure how to get started with those.

Would you please to reply for me?

Thanks in advance.

Hey Hi! please refer to this post for more --- http://www.printingsupport.com/78/initial-stage-at-3d-printing-need-your-help --- For modelling, if you are not already a designer it would take you few weeks to understand how it works. I would suggest if you are new, go for free software's like Googlesketchup or Openscad, there are many other open software's out there, but I personally recommend these. And like I said you can also get free 3d models online, which you can then modify using the free software's; you can find 3d models at Google 3d warehouse & GrabCad. So, there you go, don't let your ideas go in vain make use of them. p.s. The how to videos on YouTube are very very useful, you should go check them out and spread the word.
